I'm trying to download an attachment from Yahoo and when it gets to be over
half way downloaded or right at the end the window starts flashing non-stop.
The only way of stopping the window from flashing is to go into the task
manager at the right moment and end task on the file download window.  I have
done all the updates for win 98 and IE6 but nothing has worked.  Does any one
know of a fix?

It sounds like some sort of redirect is not happening properly.  Do you have
any antipopup, antispyware or anti ad software running?

Also, search your computer for a hidden file called HOSTS. Rename to
HOSTS.OLD.

No pop-up blockers or antispyware was running when it started happening.
Since it started I have run Adware and also the antispyware that comes with
SBC Yahoo!'s DSL but this did not correct anything.  I have also run a virus
scan on the hard drive but nothing came up.

I will try to see if I can find the hosts file and see what happens with
that?  What is that file used for?

The HOSTS file is used to control browser navigation by mapping URLs to
specific IP addresses.  I can see it causing a problem if it forces your
browser to an incorrect URL IP, the site tries to correct things, then the
HOSTS file forces it back again.
