i have a computer with win 98. it has the ecs k7s5a motherboard. 1.3 ghz
processor, 512 ram. i am using the onboard lan, which is the SIS 900 pci
fast ethernet adapter. I have 3 computers hooked up into a network. I am
using dhcp on my network to assign ip addresses. I use 192.168.1.xxx for my
ip addresses, starting at 100-103. this morning when i boot up my computer.
my internet did not work, while the two xp computers still work. the win 98
computer complete changed ip addresses on me. it is now 169.254.25.243,
with no gateway or subnet mask assigned to my computer. after trying to
release the numbers and assign new ones automatically to no avail. i chose
to uninstall and reinstall the network card. did not fix the problem. i
forced my computer to use an ip address, by assigning the number to my tcp/ip
properties in control panel. the internet still does not. my router shows
that there is a connection between my computer and my router, but for some
reason my dhcp assigns an ip address to my 2 xp computers, but no longer to
my 98 machine. please help me.

Hmm... This is an old one - I've been on a working mode lately.
Take a gander here if you're still having issues. If you're not then save
the page for future reference maybe.
