I have inherited a Dell Inspiron 7500 from my son. I purchased originally in
2000. It has Windows 98 and I would like to know if 98 will support wireless
applications.

You want to know if it will support wireless networking? Not sure what you
mean by "wireless applications".

From my experience, I think the best option to connect to your hub or router
via wireless would be to use the USB option. Unfortunately, Win 98 was not
very good at USB - you will need a minimum of 98SE with all the USB updates
and patches. Also you should be aware the USB 2.0 is the preferred standard.
You may find the Dell of this time frame has only 1.1. Also any USB wireless
connector you buy should be compliant with 98SE as well.

I'd like to find a USB wireless network adapter that works reliably
with 98SE. Can you recommend any particular make and model, Alan?

In my experience, it's hard to find a wireless network adapter of any
type that works reliably with 98SE. I recommend using a wireless
gaming adapter instead. It connects to the computer (or other device)
via a wired Ethernet connection, doesn't require a driver program, and
works with all versions of Windows. Here are some examples:
