Hello Girls amd Boys,

Wonder if anybody might be able to shed any light on this.....

I have an internal PCI Modem that is infrequently used when I need to
use Dial Up to an ISP to upload via FTP. It has a Conexant Chipset and
identified as a CXT1085

It worked OK as far as I can recall once installed however recently I
was not getting a connection. It would dial and as soon as the Modem at
the other end responded this modem seemed to drop the line before
anything else could be negotiated.

I searched for a new driver and it worked but as of yesetrday I was
again getting no connection although not immediately dropping.

I've played around with a few drivers, the ones that came on th CD and
some I've found to download - each time I install the model works OK
ONCE - the next time I try to dial I am now getting my original proiblem
- line drops almost as soon as the modem answers.

This seems to repeat each tiime I re-install the modem and driver.

Any ideas ?

Many thanks in advance.

Try limiting the connect speed to 33600bps by adding the string
"+MS=V34" to your Extra Settings in Control Panel -> Modems ->
Properties -> Advanced. Note that even under V90 (56K) your upload
speed will be limited to 33600bps, so there should be no discernible
speed penalty.
