Windows 98 Help! - 28 Jan 2006 15:36 GMT
Upon start-up of Microsoft Internet Explorer, we get an error message which
reads that MIE has encountered a problem and needs to be shut down...

We're wondering if this could be a modem issue?

If not, what could be the cause and resolution?

Thanks!

I doubt it is the modem.
Here is an article for quite a few problems that may cause it

According to the TROUBLESHOOTING tips, it reads to click the "click here"
link on the IE Error Reporting dialog to view the error details.

The error signature information reads:

AppName: Iexplore.exe  AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106  ModName: unknown  ModVer:
0.0.0.0  Offset: 0079ae93

Under the instructions to isolate the issue by removing or disabling any
programs, services or drivers that are associated with the affected module,
it reads to locate the Module.dll on the hard disk...It was not able to
locate the Module.dll.

Any ideas to a solution?

Go to Add/Remove Programs, select Internet Explorer 6, then click the Remove
button.  You should get an option to repair or reinstall - select Reinstall.
If that doesn't fix the problem let us know and we'll try to help out
further.
