Hi
Would someone please tell me which modem-related registry entries I
can safely delete? I am attempting to install a different modem on my
W98 PC but am having problems which are possibly due to entries
remaining in the registry from the previous modem. I have tried
numerous uninstall executables but they do not clean up the registry.
Thanks for any help.

Go to Control Panel -> Modems -> General, select your modem, and click
Remove. AFAIK, that should delete your modem.

Otherwise here are some registry keys you might look at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Modem

I don't really know which entries are completely safe to remove. If I
were to delete any, I would do so by changing the name of a key. For
example, you could change the name of the ...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\MODEMWAVE

... key to ...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\_MODEMWAVE

This makes it easy to restore the original key in the event that you
break something.

Having said the above, I would think that the "modemwave" entries
could be deleted. These provide voice support for your modem(s). I'd
also delete the Zoom and HSP entries.

Have you tried removing the modems via Control Panel?
