I'm trying to install a USR 56K Faxmodem in an eMachines
eTower 400 but it does not recognize it. I've manually
installed it with the driver disk but, when I click on
diagnostics, it says it cannot communicate with com1. This
machine only has one COM port so I can't try the other
port. There are a few open IRQs but it won't let me
change. Any ideas?

Thanks

Are you installing a internal or external?  If its internal you may need
to go to cmos set up and turn off com1.  Have you tryed moving the card
a differant slot. Is the modem set to PNP or is the com port and irq
set.  If it PNP try setting it to com2. Are you sure you got the card
compleatly in the slot and are the contacts clean.
