Hi, if someone could please help me, that would be great.
Ok, my problem is this, I have Windows 98 on my old
computer, i recently formated the drive since it was not
operating at what it should be. I thought when i formated
the drive that it would re-install the modem and monitor.
However, it didnt and i need to re-install the modem but
it doesnt detect it, it is a Rockwell,
RS56-PCI
R6787-12
(C)Rockwell 97
9840-B64897.3
Thats what it says, and Windows 98 doesnt detect it.
Also, the monitor, a plug and play e-machine monitor only
shows 16 or 2 colors and only has one resolution of 640
by 480. Once the modem is up will that be updated? Please
help me! Also, the computer is a Techmedia. They have
since gone out of business.

Probably you need updated motherboard and video drivers; once updated,
the monitor and modem problems will probably go away.
Open your PC case (with the power off; unplugged if it's an ATX
motherboard) and find out what chipset you have. Then go to the chipset
manufacturer's web site - it's probably either Intel or VIA - and
download and install the appropriate chipset driver(s). You will
probably have to use someone else's PC to do download these files.
