how do you do a system restore on win-98?

Hello Jeff,

Win98SE has no such facility, if by your question you mean
restor_ing the drive back to a specific point in time.  

You can however restore the Registry by using "Scanreg
Restore".
To do DOS "Scanreg Restore", restart the computer and keep
pressing "F8" to get the DOS start menu, then select "6.  
Command Prompt only"
and at the C:\ prompt type:  "cd windows" (without the
quotes) press "return" and then type "cd command" (without
the quotes) press "return" and then
type "scanreg /restore" (without the quotes) and
press "return" and then select the backup to use\restore)
and press "return.
