I am working with an IBM Aptiva PC running Windows 98se.
The system has one 128 MB Dimm and one 64 MB DIMM.  Yet
when I run the System Information utility, it reports 184
MB of RAM.

Is this normal?

On my other system it reports the atual amount of RAM
installed.

Thanks

Hi Jim,
Your IBM has integrated video that uses a portion of the
system memory for video purposes. In your case you are
using 8mb of your system ram for video. This is very
normal and actually typical. Your other machine is using
a "real" video card with onboard memory, so it wouldn't
subtract any of your indicated memory under system
information. I hope this helped. Jerry.

Jerry:

That is just what I needed to know.  Thanks for taking the
time to answer my quesition.  I know now that my problem
is in another area and this saves me time chasing this as
a problem.

Thanks

Jim
