I've got the same problem exactly. When I play audio in
WinAmp, it plays fine. But if Media Player, QT, Power DVD,
or anything else tries to play something, it stutters. I'm
using Win98SE and WMP9, I even tried going back to 7.1,
but that didn't help.
Did you ever fix your problem? If you did, could you e-
mail me and tell me how you fixed it? Thanks.

I had the problem of the Windows startup wav file stuttering
at startup but it was OK after that.
I fixed the problem the re-enabling DMA on the Hard Drive.
Somehow, after I went to the Windows update site and
downloaded the latest patches for Win98SE that check mark
somehow got removed. It remained on my CD / DVD Drives though.
