My Matshita DVD-ROM SR8583 C53H will not recognize DVD or
Audio disks.  Windows Explorer cannot open that drive when
these types of disks are present.
It has absolutely no problem reading a data disk though.
My CD-RW
drive has no problem with any disk inserted into that
drive.  I tried
removing/add new hardware for the drive from the system
contol panel,
downloaded drivers for the drive and still cannot get it
to read DVDs
or audio CDs.  Get: E:\ is not accessable, The device is
not ready.
Please help!

Clean the drive using a standard audio CD player cleaning disc.  If that
fails the drive may be in need of replacement.
