Win98 start and misc wav sounds are not present about
80% of the boots. Control panel sounds give an error
indicating the files may be corrupted. Third party players
work fine however, and I can play CDs and mp3s. The KB
search gave article 249146 which says I need to obtain
Winmm.dll dated 12/29/99 from MS Support.

Here's the problem. THe module seems unavailable on the
download site and I cannot talk or email MS Support
without first agreeing to pay. This seems a lousy way to
build customer loyalty. For now, I am living with the
problem, but would appreciate if someone has the module
and could forward to me. Thx.
