I'm having the same issue. I haven't tried playing CDs, so
I don't know if that will work.
I have installed a driver for my sound card, and the card
is showing up in the Device Manager normally, and I can
view the driver details, but everything except CD playback
is greyed out in Control Panel - Multimedia, and I can't
open the volume controls.
I have installed all of the Windows Updates for my
machine, with no change in behaviour.
Any help would be *much* appreciated! I've been working on
this for 2 nights with no success, and I'd like to get my
machine up and running!
