Do you think those "replies" are trying to reply to you? :)
Find a file you are interested in Explorer or a substitute, hold the
shift key down while you right click on the file. The context menu
will include "Open with". Pick that, and when it gives you a list,
choose the program you want to use. Before clicking ok, when you
think you have found the program you prefer***, or at any time, check,
"Use this program all the time" or whatever it says. That establishes
an Association. There are other ways to do that to.
***Don't be limited to the list. There is a search button of some
sort there.
Programs can compete in that the last one installed can take control
of many types of files at once, including types whose processing you
were happy with**. But only one or none can be assigned to a given
extennsion at a given time.
On the other hand, if you start the program first and then from the
program, open the file, by navigating to it, you don't need an
association. Good for testing, although I haven't done it with any of
these programs.
**Somehow my Winamp took over .wav files.
