I'm stumped.  I just installed 7.1 on my win 98 system.   The demo and any mp3 will appear to play by the movemnt on the time bar but no sound.  I tried the mute button.  Any other idea's?  Thanks much Gary

>Gary, try checking the DirectX Diagnostic tool in
Accessories/System Information/Tools/DirectX Diagnostic
Tool. You'll see several buttons to run a check on your
sound system/hardware, and so on. Let the tests run. If
the tests come up with errors, or the program simply won't
run, try installing the latest DirectX software (9.0,
available at MS "Downloads"). When you download the new
software, be prepared to wait - it's a large file.

Good luck!
