I used to be able to play sound but today I can't. I think
I am missing a piece of the system which gives me sounds
and volume and I may have uninstalled something by
accident. For example, I have no loudspeaker icon showing
and in the audio tab of 'multimedia properties', the
buttons for 'playback' and 'recording' can't be activated.
Has anyone got a piece or a patch or advice on how to
restore my sound facility.

Did you read my suggestions in the thread you added your "let me know..."
question in?
Google Ms.W98.multimedia. newsgroup

To get your speaker icon back: Go to your Control panel>multimedia> check in
box which says "show volume control on taskbar">OK>OK out.
