I don't know if this is in the right place, but I'm going
to try anyway.

I'm trying to get my MicroPhone to work.  If I speak into
my MicroPhone it relays my voice over the speakers, but if
I try to record using it, it doesn't work.

What is my problem?

Go to the Volume Control, click Properties, then click the button to adjust
volume for recording.  The playback settings only control what goes out over
your speakers, the recording settings control what gets transmitted.
