Hi
I recently formatted and reinstalled Win98... till then, my onboard
sound card was working fine. After reinstalling (I have my original
Motherboard CD, so all the drivers are in place), I get no sound from
the soundcard (soundcard is a Realtek AC97 - ALC100) jack at the back.
Microphone recording doesn't work either. My audio CD's play find
though (if i use the jack in the CD drive).
I got fed up and put in a PCI soundcard (and I have the latest
drivers), and while I got audio output, it just refused to detect an
microphone - i.e. if I tell it to use the PCI soundcard as the
prefered device, the recording icons gray out - no advanced options or
anything...
Any suggestions? This is really driving me nuts... Perhaps there is
some jumper on the motherboard (a Mercury 810 FST) that I need to set?
Any hints?
Thanks
Srikanth

I have no answer for you, but I suggest you re-post this to the
