Will that work without a crossover cable? I haven't tried any of them.

They work just like regular Ethernet adapters, Richard, so connecting
two computers directly to each other requires a crossover cable.
I use that setup frequently for networking tests on computers running
different versions of Windows. Right now, I'm using it to test direct
hosting of SMB over TCP/IP, without NetBIOS, between XP and 2000 Pro.
But that's another story.
