When trying to boot up Win98, I get the following
EXPLORER dialog box:

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will
be shut down."

The details are as follow:

************************************************

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault
in module MSSHRUI.DLL at 0137:7f856051

When I click on "Close", the dialog box disappears but
comes right back up. In the meantime, I can't do anything
else on the computer.

The probable cause was trying to set up a LAN, but
shutting down before the process was completed.

I also get a list of 11 different missing .vxd files when
the computer first tries to boot.

Then a dialog box, before the EXPLORER dialog box comes
up, that tell me that msnp32.dll (Microsoft Network) is
missing.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Thank you,
