DNS-Lookup very slow

Hi!

I have 3 PCs connected to a DSL-Router. 2 are WinXP and working fine.
The last one is Win98. The PC gets an IP from the DHCP and I'm able to
ping the computes on the lan and the internet by their IPs. But when I
use domainnames it gets very slow. A lookup takes about 35sec to
complete. It seems that the lookup does ignore the host.sam file. I
analysed the traffic during the lookup and found out that this PC does
ask 127.0.0.1 and only after a certain time it asks the DNS-Server
provided in the config. I also tried the DNS from the ISP. I seems that
the PC is totally ignoring the config I set up.
Does anybody know what to do (all but a reinstall of the PC *g*)

thanks a lot

try setting it up as static IP/Gateway/DNS to see if it makes any
difference.

hosts.sam is just a sample file and has nothing to do with it , look for
"hosts"

static does not make any difference.
