I have a laptop running windows 98 that will not connect to the cable modem.
When I use my other laptop running XP it works just fine but not with the
laptop using 98. Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks.

After switching the cable modem from one computer to the other, reset
the cable modem by turning it off, waiting a few seconds, and turning
it back on.
Some cable modem ISPs require you to contact the ISP and register the
MAC address of a computer's network card.

Is it a USB modem? Have you installed USB drivers for W98?
