question - 16 Dec 2004 21:49 GMT
I have 2 windows 98 se computers that will not logon to my nt 4.0 server.  I
get the following message "The domain password you supplied is not correct,
or access to your logon server has been denied."

From the server I can access the local "c" drive on the affected machines.

create user accounts on NT40 using the logon names of each of the win98
machines (eg. comp1 logon:"fox" password "run".....setup a user account in
NT40  user:"fox" password: "run"")

then when you logon to the win98 machine , NT verfies the pw and allows
access according to permissions set for that user account.

Thank you - The NT Server currently has existing passwords and accounts for
the two affected workstations.  The passwords seem to be correct.

Do you have any suggestions about how I can troubleshoot this problem?

been busy ...they want me to work! LOL

so the user names and passwords on the win98 machines are exactly the same
as the user accounts? upper/lower case matters...

do not log onto the domain....just do a "logon and restore network
connections"  if the username/password is set correctly on NT , it will
allow access.

if the username/password does not match , then win98 cannot access shares on
NT.

as far as troubleshooting ...have you tried deleting an recreating those
user accounts ?
