How can I setup networking using a USB connection?
I am reinstalling Win98 on an old Gateway2k box. Originally the network
connection was setup to use the USB port. Now that I am reinstalling
the OS I cannot figure out how to setup the networking.

The system detects the USB port and setup up the drivers for that. But
there is no Network adapter in the Network applet. I can't setup TCP
without that.

I do realize that I am not giving much information, but Help!

Thanks for your assistance

You cannot, without special software and cables to connect the two
computers.  Even then they won't be "networked", just connected so you can
transfer files back and forth.

As Richard says, Windows doesn't have built-in support for USB
networking.

Here's an example of the special USB-to-USB software and cables that
he mentions:

Another possibility is to use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, widely
available at computer and office supply stores.
