Windows Forum / Windows 98 / Networking / August 2005What do I have to do to the Win98 computers to make sharing possible with XP computers
There are two WindowsXP computers on the LAN. I believe I noticed that they both used "User" as the Username. There are also two Win98 computers on that LAN. They are set up so they do not require a login after booting. I need to share the printers on the XP computers with the Win98 computers. I believe it is easier if all computers (in the workgroup) use the same username. What do I have to do to the Win98 computers to make sharing possible? Make sure that all of the computers (Windows 98 and Windows XP) are using the same workgroup name. It can also help if the Windows 98 computers use the same user login name as the Windows XP ones, although this does tend to defeat any other user based security settings that you might want to configure. That's my question. The Win98 computer does not require a login and I wonder what gets used as the login name for the network. Have any idea how I can set it.
