A friend just moved down and has an older machine running '98 SE. I bought a
D-Link 10/100 NIC for her, but after finding the D-Link drivers, the install
program is requesting the '98 CD. She can't find it and I'm long, long away
from 98.
Does anyone know the name of the file(s) that Install is looking for and a
location from which I can download from onto a CD or disk on my computer and
walk it over to hers?

Those files aren't available for download.
Search her hard disk for files named "Win*.cab". If they're found,
point to the folder containing them when it asks for the '98 CD.
If they're not found, point it to C:\Windows and C:\Windows\System
when it asks for files. If her computer has ever been networked, the
files might already be installed.
