Wireless Issue

I have installed a DLink G-520 wireless pci card on an HP pavillion running
windows 98SE.  I have had nothing but problems.  The latest is that the card
works \ does not work as follows:

Upon a total wireless card driver uninstall \ install, I get a message that
the card is not working and to consult windows networking help.  If I go to
network neighborhood\properties and change the primary logon from windows log
on or microsoft family network (or vice versa depending on what is listed)
and reboot, the card works.  If I shut down or restart, I get the same
message when the cpu reboots.  If I again switch from the previous change
(family network to windows log on ) all is well, until I restart or shut
down.  This cycle can be repeated over and over again!

Thanks for the help in advance!

Did you possibly install the card before installing the software?
Did that once, never again.... had to go to another vendors card to get
out of the problem.

Thanks for the reply Frank, but no, the software went first then the card.
In fact I am getting very good and uninstalling the  software, pulling the
card, then starting all over again!

How is the wireless contoller starting up?

Try running it from here if it isn't already.
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

James,

Thanks for the help.  Could you please provide detailed steps as this looks
like a registry entry.  Prior to this issue the cpu was stalling on startup,
until the wireless pci card was removed and reinstalled.

James,
I checked HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices & there
is nothing listed for the device.  Also have a RunServices and a RunServices-

How or rather what do I add and do I need to remove remove an entry from
somewhere else?

If that's the case, you may have a hardware related issue and it's
probably not what I was originally thinking.

First thing to do is try a different pci slot and head for the
manufacturer's website and make sure you're using the latest version
of the installation program / drivers.

This card has played musical chairs with my pci slots!  Drivers are up to
date.  I am missing something but this does not work \ works with changing
the logon \does not work again is starnge.
