Hello,

I have a lan made by a router and a computer connected to it. I also
would like to have another old laptop surf the net. I can only connect
it to the computer thru serial cable. Is it possible from that to surf
the net?

Anyone can help me?

Thanks a million,
Fabio

you will need a LAN card of some type for the laptop..then just plug it into
the router..

My network:

192.168.1.1 (router) <> 192.168.1.2/192.168.100.1 (xp) <> 192.168.100.2
(win98 via direct cable connection)

Can I use the xp box to route the ip/packets from the win98 pc in order
to let it surf the net? :)

Probably, but I still think a $10 router would be a better idea.

What type of "direct cable connection" is it?

With an Ethernet connection, you can enable Internet Connection
Sharing on the XP computer to give Internet access to the Win98
computer.

I don't know if it's possible with a serial or parallel connection.

It was a serial direct cable connection :)

I finally succeeded! I created a direct serial cable VPN connection.
Thanks to it I cold be on the same network as the pc and the router and
could access it to browse the web :)
