Hallo all

I have an acount where I can create up to 10 e-mail aliasses for 1 mail
adres.
With an filter I want to let users download the e-mail the may, but not the
ones that they may not.

So I created an filter wich does the folows
if to containts adres1@adres1 then do not download

The problem now is that I can not send an e-mail to adres1@adres1 from the
computer with the filter discribed above.

What is the sollution

What happens when you attempt to send such an email, Jeroen?  Any error
messages?  Such a Message Rule should not interfere with sending a message.

The error I got is as follows (translated from dutch; adresses and account
name are .... because of privacy reasons)

Could not send message because one of the adressen is refused by the server.
The adres is..... . Subject 'testen', Account: '..............', Server:
'..........', Protocol: SMTP, Respons of server: '553 5.3.0 <........>... No
such user', Poort: 25, Secured(SSL): No, Servererror: 553, Foutnummer:
0x800CCC79

Sending from the same acount using an webmail interface works fine (accept
for cc's to different account including adres1@adres1 )

What is in "Server: '........' ", Jeroen (e.g., 'smtp.ISP.com' or
'mail.ISP.com')?  Is it an 'XS4ALL.NL' server or that of another ISP?  Are
you connected at the time using XS4ALL.NL or the other ISP?

You cannot send using the outgoing mailserver of an ISP to which you aren't
currently connected.

Yes it's an xs4all.nl server. An i am connect to XS4ALL via DSL. To other
adresses no problems, only to the one of the rule.

Then the xs4all.nl SMTP server (assuming it's POP3 mail) doesn't recognize
the Account as a legitimate one, Jeroen.

Which is realy strains, cause I can sent to other adresses with the same
account at the same time. Only not to adres1@adres1 :((

Is there an online xs4all.nl page where you can check and read your mail?
Can you get messages for the adres1@adres1 there?  Did you establish this
[what I call an] alias with xs4all.nl or did you "create" this address only
in Outlook Express?

xs4all.nl, like most ISPs, gives you one mail account (or "mailbox") for
your monthly subscription and probably allows up to five "aliases" (or
separate addresses; with their own password) for the mailbox (e.g.,
Jeroen@xs4all.nl, Jeroen1@xs4all.nl, Jeroen2@xs4all.nl, etc.).

However, you must establish each of these aliases and passwords online (or
maybe by phone) with xs4all.nl.  You can't just create them yourself to use
in Outlook Express.

Yes there is.

Yes there is the main acount where I can create 10 aliasses
Then I can do this for 4 more accounts.
So this makes 5 mail adresses with in totall 50 aliasses.

The 10 aliasses all go to the 1 head mail adres.
That;s bSMTP (b = batched?)
Because of this I wanted to create the filter, So the mail witch is send to
one of the aliasses is not read by the person who should not get it.

But further it seems to work. From the webmail I can sent. But not from the
OE.

But I leave it like this

Thanks for now

Oh, gees!  How can you keep track?

Again, you cannot just create an alias address in OE and use it.  You must
first create the alias with your ISP, most likely at your online mail page.

Someone in another OE newsgroup was having similar problems with
Alias2@ISP.com (and he may have also just created the address in OE but not
with his ISP).  He solved the problem by creating yet another alias with his
ISP then he added the address to OE and all was well.

You can use OE's Message Rules to filter mail from your various aliases when
you poll your mailbox in OE, Jeroen.  The following refers to two addresses,
but you should be able to follow it and amend for three or more.

Me@ISP.com and You@ISP.com are aliases for one Mail Account (mailbox).  In
the Identity (or Windows Logon/Profile) associated with Me@ISP.com, create a
Message Rule stating, "Where To or CC contains You@ISP.com, Do not download
it from the server and Stop processing more rules" (the last phrase is
important) and place this rule at the very top of the list.

Then create a similar rule for the Identity (or Windows Profile/Logon)
associated with You@ISP.com, directing any messages addressed to Me@ISP.com
not to be downloaded from the server.

Also see MVP Tom Koch's fine pages on using Rules:

[I've been trying to find an Outlook Express newsgroup for Dutch speakers
for you to use, Jeroen, but there doesn't seem to be one.  MVP Tom Koch is a
resident of Amsterdam, by the way.)
