Is there a program available that allows one to save multiple outlook emails
to a folder on your harddrive, not within outlook itself.  I have the long
and tiresome task of saving thousands of emails and don't care to put them
in a folder one by one.

Thanks In Advance,
Eric

Create a new folder in outlook express by right clicking on the Local Folders
menu.  Call it something like "Saved Mail" or something.  Open the Inbox, or the
other folder you wish to move mail from, and select one of the messages.  Go to
Edit on the toolbar and select the option "Select All" from this menu.  Once all
the mail is highlighted, right click over them and select the Move To or Copy To
option from the menu.  A dialog window will/should open with a list all folders
that are stored.  Choose the new folder name you created and click the OK
button.

Now you can go to the Start / Find menu and type in the name of the folder you
made.  When it appears in the list window, should appear as a .dbx file, right
click over it and choose Copy (nothing else), once copied it can be pasted into
any other place on the PC, including floppy disk if it's small enough in size.

The .dbx file can them be imported back into your mail client at any time if you
need back ups.  This is a great method of making regular backups of any mail you
wish keep archived for long periods and it can help clear the Sent Items folder
and stop it becoming bulked up and slowing things down.

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for the input but I'm looking for something that will save the
messages in .eml format.

Thanks

I only know of very expensive software that will do this for you, but you can
simply select all the text from the message preview page and copy it to Notepad
in a .txt format if you want simple to read and open files.  It's the cheapest
way I know of doing it.

What is it called and where can I find it.  I'm willing to pay for it since
my messages are very important to me.

Thanks,

Hi Eric,

There is this software which is a freeware license but I haven't tried it
personally so don't know if it is any good.

http://people.freenet.de/ukrebs/dbxconv.html

Or there is the Amber Outlook Express converter programs that do the job well.
You can find all their software conversion programs on this page.

http://www.thebeatlesforever.com/processtext/conversions_d.html

Some, if not all, of the Amber Software is given on trial periods, so you should
be able to try before you buy.  Check the pricing first though as these can be
an expensive purchase if you're not using them on a regular basis.

Good luck with it.  And if you decide to try the Ulrich Kreb freeware version
could you please get back with a review of it whether you liked it or not?
Thanks.

Thanks, Big.  The first one worked great.

Thanks again,
Eric

I might give it a try myself now then.  :-)  It sounds like a handy little
proggie to keep at hand if things go haywire again.  Glad to hear it worked for
you.
