Every time I sign on to my computer, I get the message
that this service pak needs to be installed....

I have installed it at least 6 times.

Why do I continue to get this message?

It seems to be a little bug that some users are getting Sue.  Disable any
running anti-virus you may have before carrying out anything else.  Next, go to
the Add/Remove list in Control Panel and highlight the "Internet Explorer and
Tools" entry.  Now click the add/remove button.  Choose the option to repair the
installation in the dialog window that appears.  Follow the instructions on the
screen to complete this process.  After you reboot the PC it should have set
thing OK for you again.

There are more posts about this from a few days ago, so a little search through
the group may help in giving other options.

Good luck with it.

Dear Sue,
I keep getting exactly the same thing! I, too, have
downloaded it 5 or 6 times but it just keeps re-occuring.
Regretfully, I don't have the answer, but I was hoping
that my comments, along with yours, might encourage
someone with the knowhow to respond!

I am having exactly the same problem.  I am running
Windows 98 SE.  The Outlook Express Service Pack 1
(KB837009) was first installed 4/14/004 and then, starting
8/18/04 daily the same Service Pack 1 (KB837009) needs to
be installed message has occurred and I went ahead and
allowed the install to go ahead.
