After installing the update on my computer my AV program ( Kaspersky
Anti-Virus Personal version 5.0.227) real-time protection will not startup
on bootup like it should. Uninstalling the update the AV program works as it
should. After reading the info at the link below it does not appear to be an
update that needs to be installed unless a problem exists, although the
update site does not mention this except to reference the link below. Is
this why this update is listed as an "optional" update? The short
description ( helps resolve various issues found in Outlook Express)
certainly makes it sound like it's should be installed though. It appears
that there are registry changes that must be done to enable the fixes
contained in the update ? First time I've seen this kind if fix that needs
registry mods to work ! Maybe symptom # 5 is why my AV protection is
disabled upon startup?
Thanks,
Bob

Windows version?
Do you have Email Scanning enabled in Kaspersky AV?

Was Kaspersky AV and/or OE running when you installed 887797?
Does disabling email scanning (which in reality provides no additional
protection) and rebooting make any difference?
Is Kaspersky AV fully up-to-date, and have you contacted Kaspersky Support
about this?

AV and OE were not running when I installed. Kaspersky wants me to take a
screen shot of the error message, which means going through the install
procedure again. I don't know when I'll have time to do this though so for
now I'm not going to reinstall the update.
Thanks,
Bob
