My inbox says there are 3601 messages, but when I click on this, I see
nothing. I get the following message when I do a "receive all":

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'HOME', Server: 'mail.comcast.net',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0131

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ken

1.  While in the Inbox click View | Current View | Show all messages.

2.  "0x800C0131" often indicates Folders.dbx is corrupt.  See this
article for the fix but make certain OE is closed before deleting
Folders.dbx.

Thanks, Frank.

I did not have a problem with OE starting;  just seeing the inbox. I did
read through the article, but did not take any action based on it. Since I
wrote this, things have changed (I'm not certain why). I now see the inbox,
but cannot delete messages or mark them as read. I did run antivirus and
ad-aware, but no improvement. What next?

Thanks and have a great holiday.

In OE go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and see where OE is
storing its data files.  Close OE.  Go to that location with Windows
Explorer.  With Win2K and WinXP you will have to set Windows Explorer to
show hidden files and folders (Tools | Folder Options | View).  Move
Inbox.dbx and Deleted Items.dbx to an empty Windows folder.  They will be
rebuilt when OE is opened again.

You can extract any messages from the old DBX files with DBXtract or
DBXpress (www.oehelp.com).  The messages can then be dragged from the
Windows folder back into an OE folder.

Don't store messages in OE's default folders.  Move them to user created
folders as soon as possible.  I have Message Rules that move mail from
regular correspondents to other folders as they come in.
