can send but not receive [password rejected]

I have OE 5.5
Can send e-mail, but not receive - it keeps asking for password.
If cancel, the error includes:
your password was rejected
Server error -ERR Re-Authentication Failure
Server error 0x800CCC90
Error number 0x800CCC92

I can't find " Re-Authentication Failure" together with Outlook Express
in Microsoft Knowldge base.

The mail server password is the same as used to make the dialup connection.
Furthermore, can received e-mail from same ISP using Outlook 2000 or
Eudora.

Do this: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Then remove your account and close OE and then reopen it. Then add the
account back again and see if it works then.
