Read Mesages not Marked as Read

I recently updated my Win 98 SE system in windows update and a new
problem appeared.

I read messages but they are not marked as read. I sometimes mark them

read and they appear next time as not read.

I have used OE for years and never seen this before.

Have you changed any settings in the PC's Display Properties, i.e. the Font
settings?
If so go back and uncheck the Bolding selection.
