Using Win98 and OE6 I can't get my email. I get the following error message:
"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.east.cox.net',
Server: 'pop.east.cox.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 1110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E".

A Cox tech ran some tests and thinks it is caused by Zone Alarm.

Any one have this problem and any suggestion on what I can do about it.

Thanks

Jim

Disable email scanning on your antivirus program and see if the problem is
fixed.  If no help, see this article for some other possible problems (which
do include Zone Alarm):  How to troubleshoot error messages that you receive
when try to send and receive e-mail in Outlook and in Outlook Express:

Thanks. Removing email scanning did not help either. I Can send but cannot
receive email. Will now look at the link you suggest.

Thanks to all who responded.

For the benefit of those learning from the thread the - changing the Port
from 1110 to 110 corrected the problem.

Thanks again , Jim

Port 1110 is almost certainly incorrect.
