I subscribe to a number of Newsgroups. However, I don't need all of them to
be continually updated. In other words I would like to keep the individual
Newsgroup names like msnews.microsoft.com microsoft.public.win98.setup in
the folder for future reference but not have to keep clicking update to
clear the new messages. I think I have tried all the update settings but
short of deleting the Newsgroup, I can't stop them updating. Any clues?
Thanks.

Make another account for the same server.  Put all of these newsgroups in
that account and make sure the option to include on a full send and receive
is not checked.
