Are you also getting the need PROGRAM.exe when you try to open Outlook
Express?

There is no Program.exe.   The error message indicates that your Windows
File Associations for the attempted function are not correct or the
short cut is incorrect.

If you try to open Outlook Express from a short cut (icon), Right click
the icon and select Properties. The target should be:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe"

If the quotes are missing, Windows takes that to mean use program
C:\Program
and pass it the parameter:
Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe

For other programs that you start via icons, there would be a similar
problem.

1. Start here: http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#crash

General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages.  Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline".  More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown
your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
corruption.  Disable it.  It provides no additional protection.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware.  **Post

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
