I have OE5 and when I click on New Mail I get the error message "There was an
error opening this message. An error has occurred. ( very helpful!)

If I click on Addresses I get the message "Unable to open Address Book. The
Address Book may not be installed properly."

I have tried uninstalling OE and reininstalling it again having restarted my
computer in between and I continur to get the same errors.

Can anyone suggest what I might do to be able to use OE again?

Thanks

Force reinstall by running IE5SETUP.EXE, choosing "Minimal or Custom,,,"
option, then put check marks in every BOLDED item that will let you, and
others if you wish. Proceed.

Note, you MUST have the full set of installation files on hand. Only version
of IE/OE available from MS is 6.1. You might consider upgrading.

I found IE5SETUP.EXE and tried to "force install" but get error message that
I have a newer vession of IE already installed on system and setup cannot
continue.

Will OE6 run in Windows 98 and if so where can I down load it?

Thanks

OE6 will run on Win98.  You download it as part if IE6.

But see my other reply to your problem.

One possibly cause of your error is a corrupted WAB file.  A reinstall
won't fix that.

Also see:
The Windows Address Book (WAB)

If you also have Outlook98/2000+ installed, then also see:
To share Contacts between Outlook and Outlook Express
http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/oeshare.htm
If Outlook Express is set to share the Outlook contacts, that could be
where the problem lies.
