Hi, my daughter "E" (31) has recently signed up to virgin media and has a
ntlworld e-mail address, up until now (2/3 months) she has been accessing
her e-mail via her virgin home page in IE. The other day she tried to
install messenger or some other "chat" program and it has reset her home
page to MSN.
Although we can access the virgin home page via an icon on the desktop, when
we get there the "click here to set as home page" does not work, when IE is
opened again, the MSN home page is still there!!! (any ideas would be
helpful).
My main question is, although I have not configured OE for the virgin (ntl)
emails, when looking at OE today, upon opening it - OE downloaded a number
of recent ntl emails into the inbox, (I do not know how OE was configured to
do this but it is possible that"E" has been trying to get it working
herself).
Is it possible that the MSN program filled in the virgin ntl details into OE
itself?
Seeing how OE now downloads the ntl emails, how do I get OE to be able to
send them out also (I tried to send some that was in her out box but got an
error message, saying that it did not recognise "me" etc,etc.).
What details do I need to put in and where do I put them in, to be able to
send emails out?.
Secondly, if I do get OE dealing with the ntl emails, if I then reset the IE
home page back to "VIRGIN" (back from MSN) can we still access "E's" e-mails
from that page as well as from OE??
Many thanks
Steve

For issue with IE and home page
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general
You can also get to the Internet Explorer newsgroups via this web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx
There select Internet Explorer
You might also check the setting in MSN Messenger to see it there is one
that resets the IE home page to MSN.
MSN would not have set up OE for NTL. It wouldn't know how. There was
likely some software installed by her ISP that did that. But I would
have thought that it would as set up the sending options correctly.
Check with Virgin Media for the correct settings.
In order to be able to view messages on the web interface as well as OE
you must set in OE at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced, Leave
a copy on the server. Otherwise OE deletes all mails from the server on
download.
