Windows Forum / Windows 98 / Internet / February 2008"Folder in use" error when Compacting?
Whenever I Compact folders I make certain to go Offline, but there are still some folders that generate an error or message box stating that "The folder is in use by Outlook Express or another application". It appears that the compacting process then aborts once the message is acknowledged. Any ideas on what's happening and whether it needs attention? Although, it's been months since it last happened to me. Usually closing and restarting OE will let the compact to proceed. If that doesn't help, try restarting Windows.
