I'm running Windows 98 and have a PIII 866 computer but
windows detects it as a PII with mmx.and it's running like
a PII system.is there any way to get windows to detect the
proper processor?

The processor type display is only cosmetic - it is appearance only, has
nothing to do with the actual system performance. Remember there was no
Pentium III processor when Windows 98 was released so it only "knows" about
a Pentium II.
