How are the drives jumpered and cabled? Which drives are on the primary and which on the secondary controllers?
Windows provides drivers for the CD drives....none need to be manually installed.
Look in Device Manager....are all the CD and DVD drives listed in the CDROM category?
Is there a "splat"....red X or exclamation mark....on the Hard disk controllers category?
Reboot to SAFE MODE, enter Device Manager, expand the CDROM category and remove everything there.
Click OK, then restart in normal mode and let Windows reinstall the drives silently.

Hi again;
I have had this CD-burned on this comp. running fine for well over a
year, and I should also ad that I never recently added new Software
or Hardware.
The CD & DVD drive are listed in Device manager.
The only splats I have are in on the IRQ in the ECP resouses, and on
the task bar over the 'Adaptec Direct CD Wizard -No supported
CD-R/CD-RW Drive' icon. The Hard Disk Controllers have no splat.
I thought I should also add that I just noticed in Device Manager: a
yellow exclamation mark beside ECP Printer Port.
When I go to>properties>resourses:
there is a Interrupt Request 07 conflict>
IRQ 07 is used by the following:
ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller
However when I go to manually reset, I only get a choice of 5 or 7.
Both of which have the same conflicts. All of my other IRQs are used,
so can I share with something else? Does this have to do with the
CD-Burner drive problem?
The comp. will only install the CD-Rom drive silently.
Still no CD-Burner.
Thnx........Lyn
