Please help! Mysteriously my Windows 98 SE
My computer support automatic shut down; since it's
motherboard ASUS P4 SGL-VM support this feature.
The problem is when I click shut down menu, it's
automatically restart,It won't go shut down. I must unplug
the power connector to get shut down. I have no idea what
I could have done to cause this.
This can be very aggravating and tedious. I've tried
various 'fixes' but so far without success. Can anyone
help me?

It would help if you told us what fixes you already tried.
Click Start>Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK.
On the General tab, click the Advanced button.
Click to put a check mark in the box for "Disable fast shutdown", and click OK.
Click OK to close Msconfig, and restart the computer.
If that does not help, or if the box was already checked or wasn't there, go here:

Try these two sites:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;132776
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;202633
Have you installed any new hardware or software just before this problem
happened?
How long has this been going on?
Recent up to date virus check?
How about a spyware check?
