lost my rundll32.exe

This file was inadvertently deleted...(long story).

Anyway, I would like to know how I can restore that file
without losing any files or wiping out anything. In other
words, I'm hoping to restore the file without uninstalling
and reinstalling Windows 98.

Help please.

Use the "Extract one file" option of System File Checker (SFC) to extract it from your Windows CD (or the CAB file location on your hard drive) to the Windows folder.
