SlimBrowser trouble

I recently uninstalled Slim Browser which, since downloading three weeks
earlier, had caused me a lot of trouble. Now, whenever I click on a web
address in an e-mail, a message informs me that: "Windows cannot find
SBROWSER.EXE. This program is needed for opening files of type
'URLHyper Text Transfer Protocol". It seems that Slim Browser is still
plaguing me and my computer, how can I resolve matters, without reinstalling
SB. I do hope that there is an answer.

Thank you.

Seriously, it sounds like the answer is to get rid of SlimBrowser! If you
really don't want to do tht, then the best approach is the one you want to
avoid: Remove it completely from your system and reinstall it. Either the
program itself is defective, or your instalolation of it is defective.
That's the troubleshooting protocol.

As an interim, though, on all browser problems other than code issues or
installation problems, it's worth checking for parasites. For the fastest
check, using Internet Explorer (nothing else will work), browse to
http://aumha.org/a/noads.htm and wait 20-30 seconds for a report. If you
don't want to use IE, or for a more thorough approach after, see the
lengthier discussion on http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm.

Beyond that, I would recommend general Windows troubleshooting steps:

Open Windows Explorer
Go to View and "Folder Options"
Click on the "File Types" tab
Scroll down to URLHyper Text Transfter Protocol
First try reassigning it to IE ... if not possible, remove the entry and
restart the system.

Thanks for all the advice. I did as you suggested, but was not able to
reassign to IE. On starting the removal of URLHTTP, I was advised not to do
so as I would lose the double click option. I certainly didn't want to
reinstall Slim Browser, so instead, acting on an earlier suggestion from
"Glee", I downloaded Avant Browser and so far, everything is working well
once more. I can even click on addresses in e-mails which appear on Avant.
Thanks to you too Glee.

I think installing Avant Browser and setting it as your default probably corrected any orphaned associations.  Post back if you ever decide to uninstall Avant Browser, and we can help you get the associations set back to IE.
