My resources have been really low and causing my internet
to be really slow. I've done major clean out of my
computer and even kept the bare minimum in the start up.
I've installed more RAM but the resources are still low.
What else can I do to improve my performance? Where else
can I look to delete stuff that I don't need?

Richard, thanks that link really helped me figure out what
is happening with my machine. I see that McAfee is a bit
of a hog as well. It is one of the "beasts" that does not
seem to release if you go to check out items on Firewall
and then exit. Now I know what the deal is I'm not so
worried.
Well done!

>Hi, I'm in the same boat, but have removed many items
from my startup menu, which helpded a bit. I see that my
processor usage (system monitor)sometimes locks up at 100%
and then the Internet gets so slow it is almost useless.
At times it locks up completely & I have to shut down and
start up again. When I do that I get into the 2-10% usage
range again & I'm fine for a while.
I hope someone out the can help us!!

Dear Stephanie. I have the exact same problem, and am looking for the
same answers. However, I'm responding to ask, where do the responses
appear??? I see all the "email" posts to this silly forum, but see no
answers/responses. I don't understand how this forum works, I guess.
Can you email me and clue me in?
Thanks,
Art

Use Resource Meter to check System Resources to see whether you are running low on User Resources or GDI Resources. To run Resource Meter go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Resource Meter. If it is not there install by selecting Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs, Windows Set Up, double click System Tools and place a check before Resource Meter and click OK.
Solutions to tackle low System Resources break down as follows:
1. Too many 32 bit programmes loading at Startup. From within programmes
change them if appropriate to be available on demand and not running in
background. Close programmes after use.
http://www.3feetunder.com/krick/startlist.htm
2. 16 bit and dos programmes not releasing resources whilst there is a
single remaining 16 bit programme running in background. Solution shutdown
and restart computer.
3. Resource hogging programmes such as PhotoShop, IE, WMP/RP and others.
Don't leave windows etc open after you have moved on. Minimise other
programmes in use whilst running these programmes.
Try switching off from within the programmes themselves and not using the
facility offered by msconfig. It's better for your system.
