can anyone give me a suggestion on fixing an error message

scan disk didn't help, "repair" didn't help. any
suggestions?

Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan.
I believe you mean bridge.dll, and mis-typed.
Bridge.dll is part of a Browser Help Object (BHO) that is really not there to "help".
Download, unzip, and run Hijack This, but don't remove anything with it yet:

We will need a little more information. What is the error message (in
full).
Scandisk is unlikely to repair this fault. Scandisk check the integrity of
the magnetic media (iron oxide?) on the hard disk platters and is not
concerned with the files themselves.
