The past few days, when i try to turn my computer on, the
desktop background pops up and no icons show up yet..and
nothing happens. it wont start up all the way.  i hit
ctrl-alt-delete and only one program is running:run once.
I end Run Once and then turn my pc off, and when i turn it
back on it works again.  What can i do to fix this problem?

"Run Once" or "RunOnce"?

Check in Msconfig for any oddities.
(Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab)
If you cannot see anything in Msconfig then:

Start-Run-msinfo32
Click the + beside Software Environment to expand.
Click Startup Programs
Ctrl+A to Select All, Ctrl+C to Copy.
Paste  that information in your message.
